Kithulgala Adventure Day Tour
Overview
This day tour is prepared in a unique and special way for you. During this tour we will be driving to Kithulgala, where you will experience white water rafting in the picturesque Kelani River. The guests will be provided with good quality, comfortable vehicles (vehicle type depends on the number of people) to transport you to Kithulgala.
Itinerary
- We will pick you up from your hotel in Kandy and we can start the tour at any early, convenient time you want. After drive you to Kitulgala with an experienced and expert driver in good quality air conditioned vehicles (car or van depending on group size).
- Kitulgala is a small town in the west of Sri Lanka. It is in the wet zone rain forest, which gets two monsoons each year, and is one of the wettest places in the country. Nevertheless, it comes alive in the first three months of the year, especially in February, the driest month. The Academy Award-winning The Bridge on the River Kwai was filmed on the Kelani River near Kitulgala, although nothing remains now except the concrete foundations for the bridge (and, supposedly, the submerged train cars that plunged into the river in the climactic scene). Kitulgala is also a base for white-water rafting, which starts a few kilometres upstream and also popular as a location for adventure based training programs.
- After ariving at Kitugala, you will experience White Water Rafting in the picturesque Kelani River where you will cover 5 major rapids and 4 minor rapids. All safe gears, modern rafts and a comprehensive safety briefing will be given by our water rafting instructors beforehand. (Please note that this activity is for people on aged above 10 years old).
- Next trek to natural rock pools and waterfalls on Kataran-Oya is 1.5 km. There are 7 natural pools which are extremely beautiful and a gift of nature. You will experience sliding down an inclined 05 meter waterfall.
- After the rafting tour, you will be driven back to your hotel in Kandy or any location nearby which the guest wants, confirming the end of the tour.
