Overview
Kandy is a major city located in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. It was the last capital of the ancient kings’ era of Sri Lanka. The city lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau, which crosses an area of tropical plantations, mainly tea. Kandy is both an administrative and religious city and is also the capital of the Central Province. Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world. It was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1988.
Itinerary
- We will pick you from any hotel in Kandy. During the Kandy City Tour, first stop will be at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Also known as the Sri Dalada Maligawa, this golden roofed Temple, houses the relic of Lord Buddha’s tooth. The guests can walk around the Kandy Lake once visiting the Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic.
- Next we visit the Bahirawakanda Temple and then we visit the Kandy View Point.
- Next comes the visit to the Gem Museum followed by which is a shopping excursion for the guests to enjoy themselves and shop to remember their memories of the Kandy Visit. You can also enjoy an entertaining Kandyan cultural dance show afterwards.
- Finally we visit the Tea Factory upon which the tour comes to an end and we drop the guests back at their hotels.
